Aging in the home is the desired setting for the vast majority of people but most homes are not age friendly. The Family CareSpace At Home Platform turns homes into SmartCaring Homes with sensors, software and customizable alerting.  Family CareSpace At Home helps keep those who love and care for indviduals who are aging/disabled, their "Care Circle" - (ie: family, friends, neighbors, medical professionals, senior living professionals and more) - informed and connected.  Many cannot afford the necessary sensors and software to turn their home into a SmartCaring Home.  By donating you can become a Care Angel and help those who can't afford it to turn their home into a SmartCaring Home, allowing them to remain safely in their home longer.  Your donations will help pay for this technology, so they can remain safely longer in their home, instead of in a nursing home on Medicaid.

HOW DOES IT WORK?  

The Family CareSpace At Home P latform includes a Wi-Fi enabled Gateway, unobtrusive sensors placed throughout the home, a Secure Family Portal; a HomeCare Provider App and an Administrative Dashboard. Various types of sensors are placed throughout the home that monitor changes to daily living, turning their home into a SmartCaring Home. For example, monitoring how often/when an individual gets in/out of bed, uses the bathroom, opens the refrigerator/pantry door, opens a medication cabinet, or when an exit door is opened.  When changes occur, user defined alerts are sent to the approved Care Circle members (via smart devices and computers connected to the internet).  Care Circle members then can react appropriately, such as calling a loved one to check in, look into more home care assistance, call a neighbor to check in, moving in with a loved one/having them move in with you, or set up a doctor appointment.   With the Family CareSpace At Home Platform, members of a Care Circle are informed in real time when something occurs.

DID YOU KNOW THAT: 

• If someone falls, the longer they remain on the floor means the longer it will take for them to recover.  However, by utilizing Family CareSpace at Home, the sensors in the home can work together to know if an individual is no longer moving around the home triggering the usual sensors, and a panic button can be pressed by an individual as well.
• The earlier a urinary tract infection (UTI) is detected, the faster the recovery time and the first sign is using the bathroom more.  Since Family CareSpace At Home can monitor changes to the number of times the bathroom is used, a UTI can be detected earlier. UTI's are a huge problem in the senior population, as the usual sensations are not there, like they once were.  Catching them late can mean multiple cources of antibiotics, possbile hospital and rehabs stays, as malnutrition and dehydration - the longer it goes undiagnosed, the longer it takes to treat.
• It can take less than 1 day for a senior to become malnourished or dehydrated. That is why, Family CareSpace At Home monitors when/how often/when a refrigerator or pantry door is opened can show patterns to make sure they are eating and drinking regularly.  As we age, the sensation of feeling hungry or thirsty become less and less. By monitoring patterns of when a refrigerator or pantry door is opened, alerts are sent out when they deviate.  Hence, if the refrigerator is usually opened by 7:45 am, and it's 8:00 am and it hasn't been open, a call can go out to remind them to eat. If no answer, sending over a neighbor to check on them is another option.
• Knowing that someone with memory loss has opened an exit door in real time means the Care Circle can respond faster to stopping a terrible situation from occurring.  Family CareSpace At Home make sure family caregivers/caregivers are informed in real time and by using sensors on exit doors, can help a spouse or an adult child ensure their loved one is safe, giving time to redirect or call in assistance.
